BESCOM load enhancement: increase sanctioned load
Adding appliances can change the load you need from your electricity connection. Compare your existing sanctioned load with the proposed requirement, then use BESCOM’s load-enhancement service to request approval.

Sanctioned load and monthly units are different
Sanctioned load describes the approved connection capacity, usually shown in kW or kVA. Monthly units measure energy used over time. A low monthly bill does not establish that the connection can support several high-power appliances operating together.
Prepare the proposed increase
Use the load calculator as a planning aid, then confirm the requirement and installation suitability with a qualified electrician and BESCOM. The calculator cannot approve your connection.
- Latest bill and account ID for the correct installation.
- Existing sanctioned load and its unit, copied from the utility record.
- Proposed total load and additional load requested, using the same unit.
- Appliances likely to run together, including high-power equipment.
- Supporting documents and installation details requested by the official form.
Enter additional load carefully
The BESCOM FAQ describes a field for the amount of load to be enhanced. If an existing 3 kW connection is to become 5 kW, the increase is 2 kW. Read the current field label: entering the intended total in an additional-load field would describe a different request.
Apply through the official service
Sign in to the official customer dashboard, choose Load Enhancement under Janasnehi Vidhyuth Sevagalu and select the account. Complete the required details and documents. Save the request ID, submitted form and demand letter; pay the applicable amount through the utility’s official service.
Fees, approval and wiring checks
Review the demand note for your actual request and confirm whether meter, phase, service cable or network changes are involved. Check the approved load in the utility record after completion. Do not alter a sealed meter or assume paying the demand note authorises an immediate wiring change.
