Terms of Service & Usage Agreement

Effective Date: September 2026

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the website https://powercutstatus.in or installing its Progressive Web Application. By accessing or using our services, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility & Permitted Use

You may access and use this service for lawful personal, civic, educational, or commercial informational purposes. You agree not to:

  • Submit fake, automated, or malicious power outage or restoration reports;
  • Execute denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks or scrape our API endpoints at rates exceeding our rate limits;
  • Circumvent or tamper with anonymous device fingerprinting or anti-bot measures;
  • Misrepresent this platform as an official government or utility portal to third parties.

2. Community Outage Reporting Integrity Policy

Our platform relies on a truth-first crowd corroboration model. To prevent manipulation and maintain data sanctity:

  • Each outage or availability report is authenticated via anonymous cryptographic device tokens;
  • Submissions are limited to one report per user every 15 minutes per locality;
  • Reports require multi-user corroboration or official DISCOM synchronization before a status card turns red or green;
  • Automated scripts or bot entries will be filtered and permanently blacklisted.

3. Intellectual Property & Fair Nominative Use

All software code, engineering calculation algorithms, interface design, interactive charts, and documentation published on powercutstatus.in are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Names and acronyms of Indian state electricity utilities (e.g., DHBVN, CESC, TATA POWER) are the property of their respective statutory bodies and are used strictly for identifying service areas.

4. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE INDIAN LAW, NEITHER POWERCUTSTATUS.IN NOR ITS CREATORS, DEVELOPERS, OR CONTRIBUTORS SHALL BE HELD LIABLE FOR:

  • Any direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages resulting from electricity blackouts, brownouts, phase drops, or equipment failures;
  • Inaccurate or delayed outage estimations, incorrect scheduled maintenance times, or unnotified feeder cuts;
  • Decisions made or equipment purchased based on the output of any calculator or tool;
  • Loss of revenue, data corruption, spoiled goods, or electrical surge damage to home or commercial appliances.

5. Modifications & Service Availability

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service, including specific locality feeds, calculators, or automated DISCOM connectors, at any time without prior liability.

Compliant with Indian IT Act 2000, BEE standards, and nominative fair use.
