House Wiring Cost Calculator India

Estimate house wiring cost from floor area, rooms and electrical points. Compare material and labour budgets, review wire and conduit quantities, then adjust the estimate using your contractor’s rates.

1. House size & layout

Enter built-up area and room counts. You can change every assumption.

Advanced floor-by-floor plan

Turn this on when different floors have different rooms or areas.

Planning budget

₹66,713 – ₹2,90,304

Indicative material + labour range, not a contractor quote. Final cost depends on floor plan, brands, concealed/surface routing, DB, earthing and local labour.

Quantity is a planning range only. A signed floor plan and DB position are needed for a purchase-ready BOQ.

Custom contractor rates

If you already have local quotations, enter them here. The tool will keep its benchmark range and show your own contractor-based total separately.

Editable material & labour rates

Enter current dealer/electrician rates from your city. No default market price is assumed.

Safety & estimate note

This calculator is for budgeting and point planning. Cable size, protection devices, earthing, circuit segregation and final quantities must be verified from the actual load and floor plan by a qualified electrician/electrical professional before purchase or installation.

House wiring costs, quotations and rewiring questions

How do I calculate electrical work cost?

Start with a room-by-room point schedule, then price cables, conduit, switches, sockets, distribution boards, protective devices, earthing, labour and testing. Ask separately about wall repairs and taxes. To compare an electrician’s quote, enter the contractor’s rates above using the same specification. A measured layout is needed before ordering materials.

How accurate is this house wiring estimate?

Use it for early budgeting and comparing specifications. The default budget uses built-in planning assumptions, not live supplier prices or a surveyed city rate. Your room counts, appliance points and entered rates affect the result. A site survey may identify extra work. The estimate is not a fixed-price quotation or installation approval.

How much is it to wire a 2000 square foot house?

With 2,000 sq ft, this calculator gives ₹66,713–₹4,83,840 and 66 points. This example assumes one floor, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one kitchen, one living/dining room, no study, one balcony, one utility area, three AC points, two geyser points and two extra 16A points. Standard branded finish and Metro / Tier 1 are selected; custom rates are blank. This broad indicative range is not a local quotation.

Can I estimate wiring for a 600, 1200, 1500 or 1800 sq ft house?

Yes. Change the built-up area and then correct the rooms and appliance points. Changing area alone leaves the existing room schedule in place. For multiple floors, enter the total built-up area and use the floor planning controls. Rewiring also needs a separate allowance for removal, access and restoration.

Can I download a free PDF of house wiring point rates?

Use Print / Save as PDF after adjusting your inputs and any contractor rates. Review the print preview before saving. This produces a project estimate, not an official nationwide point-rate schedule. Download detailed CSV is also available for reviewing the exported quantities and entered material rates.

Do electricians charge per point, per square foot or per day?

Quotations may use any of these methods. For each point, establish the connection type, cable-length allowance, accessories and labour included. For a day rate, clarify hours, helpers and materials. For an area quotation, obtain the point schedule and exclusions. These are alternative quoting methods; do not add two full-house quotations together.

What is the typical electrical work rate in Mumbai, or the electrician rate for 2026?

There is no single rate for every job. Access, occupied premises, material specifications, job size and wall restoration affect the quotation. Obtain current local quotations against the same schedule and enter them above. The location band is a budgeting assumption, not evidence of a particular Mumbai contractor’s price.

What is the cheapest way to rewire a house, and which wiring is costly?

Finalise socket positions before work starts, coordinate wiring with renovation and compare itemised quotations. Retain existing components or routes only after inspection confirms suitability. Concealed rewiring can involve wall chasing and restoration; surface routing may reduce that work where suitable. Compare the complete installation rather than cable price alone.

At what age should a house be rewired?

Age is a reason to arrange an inspection, not an automatic replacement deadline. The decision depends on insulation condition, earthing, protection, previous alterations and present loads. Repeated tripping, damaged accessories, overheating or a burning smell need investigation by an electrician.

How do they rewire a house? Can an old house be rewired without removing drywall?

An electrician inspects the installation, plans circuits and access, isolates the supply, replaces the required wiring and equipment, and tests the completed work. Accessible conduits or voids may reduce openings; other buildings need wall access or surface routing. Drywall methods do not automatically apply to brick or concrete homes. Agree on access and restoration before work begins.

How much do 100, 200 or 300 metres of cable cost? What is the price of three-phase cable per metre?

Multiply the required length by a current quotation for the exact cable specification. Check conductor material, cross-section, number of cores, insulation, brand, taxes and delivery. Three-phase cable is not a complete specification. Distinguish single-conductor metres from metres of multicore cable. The same method applies to a 200 ft run, but installation labour and access are separate costs.

Which house-wire brand is best in India?

Compare the required specification, applicable certification, product documentation and traceable supply before comparing brands. Use a reliable supplier and retain the invoice. A familiar brand cannot compensate for an unsuitable cable size.

Understand household cable selection

Does this calculate complete house construction or RCC costs?

No. It estimates electrical work. Building costs for 1,000, 1,200, 1,600 or 4,000 sq ft, whether ₹40 lakh is enough, and how many rooms fit in 1,200 sq ft need a building design and separate construction estimate. Distinguish house-plan design fees from construction costs. Material pricing needs measured quantities and unit rates; RCC also needs concrete, reinforcement and formwork details.

What is the formula for electricity cost? Is it the same as electrical work cost?

Electricity cost concerns energy consumed and the applicable tariff; wiring cost concerns installing the electrical system. For a wiring estimate, add item quantities multiplied by their quoted rates, plus stated allowances. For energy, use appliance watts, operating hours and tariff details.

Keep installation costs separate from electricity bill benefits

Wiring and cable planning concern installation work. A recurring household bill subsidy does not automatically pay for that work or approve a cable size. Check the state-wise household electricity benefits guide when planning ongoing costs.

For your location, review PSPCL domestic subsidy conditions in Punjab, MP Atal Graha Jyoti bill relief or Delhi domestic subsidy eligibility. Eligibility and installation estimates are separate decisions.
