Power Consumption & Home Load Calculator
Use this power consumption calculator to estimate connected load, typical operating wattage, daily kWh and monthly electricity units from Indian household appliances.
Example appliance values are estimates. Replace watts with your nameplate or measured average and enter actual operating hours. Fridges cycle and inverter AC demand varies. Running load uses a planning diversity assumption, not measured simultaneous demand.

Convert appliance watts into daily and monthly electricity units
One electricity unit is 1 kWh. Multiply watts by quantity and actual running hours, then divide by 1,000. A watt rating alone cannot tell you monthly consumption.
| Power and use | Units per day | Units per month |
|---|---|---|
| 1,300 W for 1 hour/day | 1.3 kWh | 39 kWh |
| 240 W for 5 hours/day | 1.2 kWh | 36 kWh |
For a water purifier, fridge or inverter AC, use measured average power or manufacturer energy data when available. Standby and compressor cycles can change the result. Monthly units are energy; inverter sizing also needs simultaneous load and startup surge.

Calculation Assumptions & Safety
Calculations are planning estimates using the displayed inputs and assumptions, not certified designs or verified provider bills. Actual runtime, generation, cost and wire requirements vary with equipment, installation and operating conditions. Confirm manufacturer specifications and current provider rules. Have a qualified electrician review wiring and backup installations.
How to calculate home power consumption in India
Use this home appliances power consumption calculator to estimate electricity use from appliance watts and running hours. Electricity consumption is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh), commonly called units on Indian electricity bills. For each appliance, multiply watts by the number of hours used, divide by 1,000, then add the appliances together. A 100 W device used for 10 hours consumes about 1 kWh, or 1 unit.
A power usage calculator estimates energy; it does not read your electricity meter. Connected load and monthly energy are different. Connected load is the total rated wattage that could be switched on, while monthly units depend on how long appliances actually run. Air conditioners, refrigerators, pumps and other motor loads can also draw more power briefly at startup.
Common appliance examples
The calculator includes common household loads such as refrigerators, RO water purifiers, washing machines, geysers, fans and air conditioners. For example, a 45 W RO water purifier used for 2 hours consumes about 0.09 kWh per day before pump cycling and model-specific variation.
Compare your estimate with household electricity benefits by state. Read the Punjab 300-unit billing rules, Telangana Gruha Jyothi household conditions or Delhi subsidy bands and opt-in checks for the relevant account.
Karnataka households can compare estimated units with their recorded allowance. Read our Gruha Jyothi eligibility, application and status guide; the calculator does not determine scheme eligibility.
